Segesta

The archaeological area includes a Doric temple in perfect condition and a theater partly dug into the hill: the landscape behind it offers a perfect backdrop.

The Archaeological Park of Segesta is located on the site of the most important city Elima of Sicily: according to authoritative sources this population has Trojan origins, while archaeological data denote an island origin.

Inside, we can admire the Doric Temple, nicknamed "Great Temple", which was built during the last thirty years of the fifth century BC, on top of a hill west of the city, outside its walls;

Finally, we find the sanctuary of contrada Mango, with remarkable proportions, the agora and the house of Navarca, of Greek-Roman age, and a medieval area, consisting of walls, a castle attached to the theater, two churches of Norman times, the medieval quarter and the mosque.
