Description
At the foot of Palazzo Conte Federico is the B&B d'Arte "Il Giardino di Ballarò," an ancient dwelling located in the heart of Palermo's historic center, adjacent to the Arab-Norman Route now a Unesco heritage site. The restoration, completed in July 2011, brought to light architectural elements that give this historic home a special charm and atmosphere; in fact, both the 18th- and 19th-century stone arches and the cast-iron colonnades bear witness to various interventions over time. On the ground floor of the place you will find a spacious lobby area, heated by a cozy fireplace. These spaces are further embellished by a collection of Sicilian ceramics, designed by the owner. The B&B is complemented by an ancient garden, a courtyard scented with typical Sicilian aromas and a rooftop sun terrace with tub.
Rooms
The property has 2 Classic (double) rooms, 1 Deluxe (triple) and 2 Suites (suitable for up to 4 people). From April to October, for all double rooms, our offer includes the relaxation package: guests will have daily access to a relaxing outdoor hot tub. Each session will be accompanied by a complimentary drink. More information on the composition of the rooms and attached services follows.
CLASSIC ROOM
The Classic Rooms at our boutique bed and breakfast are colorful and feature interesting design elements that give the environment an 'elegant and personal atmosphere. Among the amenities guests will find a tea point with kettle, outside the room. Amenities: free wifi, flat-screen TV, heating/air conditioning, 1 private bathroom with hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, mini-bar, tea corner with kettle outside the room; relaxation package: bathrobes + slippers + daily use of an outdoor hot tub, by reservation (max 30 minutes).
DELUXE ROOM
The Deluxe Double is a particularly spacious and elegant room, characterized by high wooden ceilings and warm colors. The large French door and small balcony overlooking the hotel's main elevation make the room even more bright and airy. Equipped with a maximum of three beds, the Deluxe room is suitable for couples or families/groups of up to 3 people. Amenities: heating/air conditioning, free wifi, flat-screen TV, 1 private bathroom with hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, mini-bar, safe, kettle and tea point inside the room; relaxation package: bathrobes + slippers + daily use of an outdoor hot tub, by reservation (max duration 30 min - relaxation package is included only in the rate for two people).
SUITE
The Suites are the only rooms with exposure to the property's gardens; this position gives both rooms a charming and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are the most spacious in the boutique B&B and therefore the most suitable for long stays or for groups of 3 or 4 people. In particular, the Giardino room has a main sleeping area with a double bed and a balcony overlooking the garden, and a second sleeping area with a 2-seater sofa bed; the Maioliche room, on the other hand, offers a larger room with a double bed and a single bed, illuminated by two large windows overlooking the "court of aromas"; the adjacent niche accommodates the fourth bed. The presence of two bathrooms with shower stalls, available in both suites, will ensure an even more comfortable stay. Amenities: heating/air conditioning, free wifi, flat-screen TV, 2 private bathrooms with hairdryer and courtesy set, mini-bar, safe, kettle and tea point inside the room; relaxation package: bathrobes + slippers + daily use of an outdoor whirlpool bath, upon reservation (max duration 30 min - relaxation package is included only in the rate for two people).
CHECK-IN
Early check-in: our rooms are usually accessible from 1.30 pm; in case of arrival earlier than this time, you can leave your luggage in reception, so as to begin the visit of the ancient city, or take advantage of our large halls while waiting.
Late check-in: only for arrivals after midnight there is a small supplement of €15 per room.
Check-out: we kindly ask you to vacate the room by 10.30. Possibility of late check-out with supplement to be paid locally, upon request.
Prices
The rates listed below are for the period between March and October 2023. All prices listed include daily breakfast service. They also do not include tourist tax (1.50 euros per person, per night), payable locally.

NB: Double Classic/Deluxe/Suite rooms rates, from April until October, in addition to the stay and the breakfast service, include the use of an outdoor spa bath (relax). Each daily session includes a non-alcoholic drink and lasts about 30min. Bathrobes and slippers will be provided by the property.
Free luggage storage on arrival and departure. Daily cleaning included in the price.
Pets allowed, under the supervision of the owners; indoor areas where food is administered will not be accessible to animals. For traveler with large dogs, we recommend reserving our suite with access to the garden.
Cot available with supplement. Free street parking. Guarded paid parking, only 300 meters away from us. Cooking classes available by reservation only. Possibility to rent a car/bike on request.

FROM AIRPORT
By Bus (about 45 min)
You can take the "Prestia & Comandè" bus, which leaves every 30 min from the airport and will drive you to the Central Station (15 min walk from the hotel). One way ticket costs 6€. Coming from the Central Station, walk down Maqueda street, until you reach the crossroad with “Via Ponticello”; proceed on via Ponticello, until you reach “Piazza Ballarò” and from there take “Via Porta di Castro”. You will find us at n. 75/77.
By train (from 40 to 50 min).
Once at the airport you can reach the -1 floor by lift and from there take the train that will take you to the Orleans Station – Palazzo Reale (https://www.thetrainline.com/it/aeroporti/aeroporti-italia/aeroporto-palermo). One-way ticket costs around € 6.00. You will be able to reach us in 10 minutes walking: getting out of the Orleans station, cross Corso Re Ruggero and proceed into Via Porta di Castro; you will find us at n.75/77.
By taxi (about 35 min).
We recommend the transfer service from the airport to our B&B at the price of 45€ each way; in order to reserve it we will kindly ask you to provide your flight details (number, origin and time of arrival).
By car (about 30-35 m.) If you have a GPS we suggest you use the directions provided with this link https://goo.gl/maps/CGLdDbLPjUM9xT7E8. Please note it will drive you to a free parking area (Via Antonino Mongitore) located less than 1 min walk from us.
Leaving the airport proceed to the highway A29 north east. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for A29/Palermo and merge onto A29. Continue onto E90 on “Viale Regione Siciliana North West”, after about 10 minutes you will see signs for “Via Ernesto Basile SS624”, take the exit to “Via Ernesto Basile”. Continue on “Via Ernesto Basile”, at some point you’ll continue onto “Corso Tukory”, keep the left and at the traffic island turn left and take Via dei Benedettini in front of you. Drive straight on and after the trafficlight proceed on Via Antonio Mongitore. Continue until the end of this street, where you will find a free parking area, 50 metres away from the B&B. You can reach us on foot by "Via Barbieri" on your left; the B&B is on Porta di Castro street, 75/77.
