Itinerary

1° day

Arrival at Modica

We recommend you to arrive at the airport (the closest are those of Catania or Comiso) by the afternoon, so that, after the autonomous transfer and check-in in accommodation in the city center, you can have some free time to start exploring the rich offer of monuments and sites of interest that Modica presents.

Free dinner and overnight at I Tetti di Siciliando, the first extra-hotel accommodation facility built in Modica in an ancient noble residence of the early twentieth century, recovered after years of neglect.

2° day

Modica - Cooking class

Free day to dedicate to the visit of Modica, jewel city declared Unesco heritage. Nestled among the Iblean rocks, the city unfolds on a plateau that descends from the hills to a concave valley, once the bed of a river: this makes the urban plan is organized on several neighborhoods distributed on different heights.

Despite its medieval layout, it is the late Baroque that dominates the architecture of historic buildings and churches, most of which were built after the earthquake that struck eastern Sicily in 1693.

The site had to be inhabited since prehistoric times, as can be seen from the numerous rock remains that surround the city, but it is from the Middle Ages and until the nineteenth century that the county of Modica conquers a strategic role from an economic and cultural point of view, so much so that the whole territory of the province of Ragusa was attached to the county.

Walk through the narrow streets steeped in history, between the narrow streets and the long staircases that wind between the houses clustered in the neighborhoods of Modica Alta and Modica Bassa, then suddenly opening on majestic and spectacular architectural masterpieces.

Free lunch.

In the afternoon Rosellina awaits you in the large kitchen of I Tetti di Siciliando, to cook together some typical Modican dishes: a cooking class to immerse yourself in the local culinary tradition together with the inhabitants of the city.

Dinner and overnight stay.
