Capaci NO MAFIA tour

A visit to the Memorial of the victims killed in Capaci accompained by an eye witness of the massacre.

A MILESTONE IN THE HISTORY OF SICILY

The Capaci massacre was an attack on the 23th of May 1992, organized by the Sicilian Mafia against Giovanni Falcone, one of the most famous and successful anti-mafia prosecutor.

His wife and 3 policemen were also killed in the explosion caused by 500 kg of TNT.

That event provoked a big shock in the Italian people, pushing the civil society to stand up against the Mafia, starting a season of rebellion and renovated engagement of the community in the antimafia movement.

THE WITNESSES AND THEIR MEMORIES

During the visit to the Memorial of the victims killed in Capaci, you will meet an eye witness of that massacre, to understand how things have been changing from that moment on.

Their speech is also the opportunity to understand how the Mafia organized the attack and the connections they had with the establishment; as well as to reflect about why some people from Italian Institutions could have helped Cosa Nostra.

CASINA NO MAFIA: A SYMBOL OF RENAISSANCE

Then, you will walk to the hill where the mafia bosses were preparing the attack, up to the famous Casina NO MAFIA, a symbol of rebellion and the new course taken by the local people, as well as one of the best viewpoint of the north coast.

Such a gorgeous beauty is, by contrast, a proof of the efforts the community must do to protect and preserve the territory from the Mafia violence and abuses.
